The Art of Recognition, lose the ability, and we are no longer able to recognise truth. It is imperative that this skill is kept alive and taught from a very early age. Up at Ellys Manor House (EMH) in Lincolnshire, the birthplace of this programme, we are well aware of its importance.
Credit goes to Anthony Ellys, as builder of the house and the adjacent church tower. The Ellys family were rich wool merchants of the Calais Staple. Thus today, the house and its history, personifies the wealth of England – the wool trade, and is a testament to the Renaissance from both sides of the Alps.
“It is impossible, as Stubbs showed long ago, to understand English constitutional development without reference to wool”.
